As the Soviet Stalingrad counteroffensive began in the south, the 12th Guards Breakthrough Tank Regiment was assigned to a series of small offensives around Moscow. Arriving in late December, the regiment was committed to support attacks near Rosino in an attempt to snap the neck of the bulge. The 12th Guards Breakthrough Tank Regiment was called upon to conduct a pinning attack against the German lines of the Demyansk Bulge. However, the Germans were reinforced by the elements of the 225th Infantry Division and 184th Sturmgeschutz Battalion.
Objectives: The three platoons of your company are deployed as follows: one platoon south of the village objective, the command platoon in the center, southeast of the objective, and your platoon east of the objective. Support consists of three sections of the new SU-122 Mechanized Guns deployed in overwatch. Converge on the enemy and secure the village.
